Hey there, Gulf Coast enthusiasts! We’ve got some exciting news to share about improvements happening at Johnson Beach, and we can’t wait to spill the beans on what’s coming your way.

Park Enhancements Coming to Johnson Beach

Us at Pointe South Rentals & Real Estate are absolutely thrilled to announce some exciting developments happening at Johnson Beach. Get ready for a whole new level of fun and convenience as Johnson Beach undergoes a transformation!

What’s in Store?
So, what’s happening exactly? Get ready for a major upgrade, folks! We’re talking about the installation of 110 new parking spaces distributed across three new parking areas. That means less circling for parking and more time enjoying the sun and surf.

But that’s not all! They’re also adding seven dune crossovers to connect you with both the tranquil sound and the majestic Gulf of Mexico. These pathways will not only make your beach trips more convenient but will also help protect the sensitive dune ecosystems. And for those who enjoy a leisurely stroll or bike ride, they’re introducing a half-mile multi-use path on Johnson Beach Road. It’s the perfect way to explore the beauty of this national seashore at your own pace.

Safety First
Safety is a top priority, and they’re not cutting any corners in that department. They’re installing new speed tables and crosswalks to slow down traffic, ensuring that everyone can move around safely. Plus, these measures will help reduce impacts on the local wildlife, allowing us to coexist harmoniously with the unique flora and fauna of this area.

Funding for a Brighter Future

These incredible improvements are made possible through Gulf Restoration funding associated with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill settlement. We’re proud to partner with the Florida Trustee Implementation Group (TIG) to bring you these upgrades. The $2.6 million project has been awarded to Wright Brothers LLC Company, ensuring that it’s in the hands of experienced professionals who will make it all happen.

A Little History
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the rich history of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, of which Johnson Beach is a part. Established in 1971, this national treasure spans across both Florida and Mississippi. It’s a place where history, culture, and nature converge to create an unparalleled experience.

Fascinating Facts
Did you know that the Gulf Islands National Seashore is home to over 19,000 acres of pristine land and coastline? It’s a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering activities like hiking, birdwatching, and, of course, beachcombing. And speaking of wildlife, one of the stars of the show is the critically endangered Perdido Key beach mouse, whose habitat we are dedicated to preserving.

Plan Your Visit
Now, here’s the important part. The Johnson Beach road closure is scheduled from September through February 2023 to ensure the improvements are completed efficiently and safely. During this time, the park will be closed to all vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic in the construction areas. However, the park pavilions, facilities, and the main parking lot will remain open for public day use. So, don’t worry; you can still enjoy everything Johnson Beach has to offer while they work on these enhancements. Here is the website to check for updates on this project.

We’re excited about these changes, and we hope you are too! Keep an eye on our social media for updates, and remember, the “Pointe South Difference” means we’re committed to enhancing our community’s experiences along the Gulf Coast. We can’t wait to welcome you back to a better-than-ever Johnson Beach soon!
