Sold Pensacola HomeLocated in the prestigious “Chandelle” subdivision in Pensacola, Florida the residence at 1127 Naples Drive hadn’t been on the market long before Pointe South real estate agent, Ouida Jones helped the sellers find a bite.

Navy Federal to Create Jobs in Pensacola

Palafox Pier smallThe Pointe South real estate team recently toured Navy Federal in Pensacola and learned a lot about their available loan programs and of things to come in the future. This includes the creation of 5,000 jobs in the greater Pensacola area.

That is right, with less than a week left in a close election, Governor Rick Scott made an announcement that will affect the well-being on the entire Panhandle. Navy Federal Credit Union is investing $350 million to expand its operations and create 2,000 new jobs in Pensacola by 2016 and the additional 5,000 by the year 2020.

According to the Governor, “because of companies like Navy Federal, we have created 651,300 private sector jobs since December 2010, and we will continue working hard to create jobs…” This is the largest expansion Pensacola has seen thus far and it signifies the strength of the credit union. Currently, Navy Federal has 5.2 million plus members and over 3,800 employees, and as numbers continue to grow it is important to have well equipped players to provide the support each customer deserves.

This is promising news not only for the credit union, but for families and members of the community, as well as the Pensacola real estate market.

Pensacola Listing’s Agents vs. Seller’s Agent

iStock_000020499093Medium-347x459If you have ever looked to a Pensacola real estate agent, to assist you in your endeavors be it for buying or selling, you have probably come across the varying types of REALTORS®. For those of you who have not, the idea of seller’s agents and listing’s agents can be a little overwhelming.

Simply put, an agent who represents the homeowner is referred to as the listing’s agent, whereas the one who represents the homebuyer is known as the seller’s agent. A listing’s agent’s duties revolve around selling your home. Typically, they will assist in everything from property valuation and pricing to networking and negotiation. On the other hand, a seller’s agent will help you find properties and further determine which one is best for you.

While it sounds basic enough, the line can become a bit unclear. In addition to these single agent transactions, Florida Real Estate Law permits agents to work on behalf of both buyers and sellers. This allows agents to divide their time between the two groups.

Our agents at Pointe South offer experience in all realms of the industry. Whether you are looking to buy, or sell our professionals will be happy to assist.

If you would like to join the team to help further represent clients along the Gulf Coast, contact Owner/Broker Susan Carleton. We have available real estate jobs at all five of our office locations.

Flood Proofing Your Gulf Coast Home

floodLast week’s flooding rains have left the Gulf Coast in an overall State of Emergency. While the residents and real estate in Pensacola, FL are used to fairly significant storm season, the nearly 25 inches have left residents dreaming of sunny days spent on the beach. The good news is the recovery process is in full swing and summer is just around the corner. The not-so-good news is that hurricane season is hot on its heels.

What better time to prepare than after a storm? If you take the steps now to protect your real estate investment you could potentially save both time and money when future storms strike. With that, do not just build your home back, build it better. There are a variety of options out there for flood proofing your home. Costs vary, but effectiveness is undeniable. Options include elevation, floodwalls, dry and wet flood proofing.

Another thing that will protect your home is storm shutters. These remain one of the most economical solutions to prevent windows from opening during a storm. If this is not an option, precautionary measures can also include flood insurance and a response plan.
