Giving Thanks for Life on the Gulf Coast: A Coastal Blessing

Giving Thanks for Life on the Gulf Coast: A Coastal Blessing

Living on the Gulf Coast is more than just a location; it’s a lifestyle filled with beauty, adventure, and a deep sense of community. From the sugar-white sands of Coastal Alabama in Baldwin County to the crystal-clear waters of Destin, Florida, there’s so much to appreciate. As the season of gratitude is upon us, let’s take a moment to reflect on the countless reasons we’re thankful to call the Gulf Coast home.

Unparalleled Natural Beauty

The Gulf Coast offers breathtaking landscapes that feel like paradise every single day. The shimmering emerald waters, soft white sands, and vivid sunsets make every beach outing unforgettable. Whether you’re strolling along Gulf Shores’ beaches or savoring the views at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, nature’s wonders are at your doorstep.

Mild Coastal Climate

While the rest of the country braces for freezing temperatures, we’re enjoying sunny, breezy days. The mild winters make it easy to embrace outdoor activities year-round, from kayaking in Orange Beach to cycling along the Timpoochee Trail in South Walton.

Delicious Coastal Cuisine

The Gulf Coast is a seafood lover’s dream. Freshly caught shrimp, oysters, and fish inspire menus at local favorites like The Hangout in Gulf Shores and Boshamps in Destin. Food festivals, like the National Shrimp Festival and Gulf Coast Crawfish Boil, bring the community together to celebrate our rich culinary heritage.

Outdoor Adventures for Every Lifestyle

The Gulf Coast is an adventurer’s playground. Paddleboarding through the serene waters of Wolf Bay, hiking in Gulf State Park, or snorkeling in Destin’s East Pass are just a few ways to connect with nature. For those who love fishing, the Gulf is a haven for anglers looking to reel in Red Snapper, Grouper, and more.

Rich Culture and History

From the historic charm of Fairhope to the maritime heritage of Pensacola, the Gulf Coast is steeped in stories waiting to be explored. Attractions like Fort Morgan and the National Naval Aviation Museum highlight the area’s historical significance, while art galleries and local artisans showcase its creative heart.

A Slower Pace of Life

The Gulf Coast embodies relaxation. There’s an undeniable charm in sipping coffee on your balcony with a view of the waves or taking leisurely evening walks along the shore. The laid-back atmosphere is a reminder to savor life’s little moments.

Year-Round Events and Festivals

Every season brings exciting activities. From summer’s Blue Angels airshows in Pensacola to fall’s Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival, there’s always something to celebrate.

Winter lights up with festive displays in Orange Beach and spring blooms with coastal art fairs and music festivals.

Sunsets of a Lifetime

Nothing compares to a Gulf Coast sunset. As the sky transforms into a canvas of fiery oranges, deep purples, and soft pinks, it’s a daily reminder of how fortunate we are to live here.

As we give thanks this season, let’s cherish the incredible gifts the Gulf Coast brings into our lives. From the natural beauty to the warm-hearted people, living here is a privilege worth celebrating.

Thanksgiving Restaurants & Holiday Events

IMG_2745 photoshoppedThanksgiving is just two weeks away and the Christmas season around the corner. If you will be taking a break from shopping Gulf Coast real estate for sale to celebrate, be sure to check out these wonderful events along the beach!

First up, we have Thanksgiving. If you have just recently moved to the area or sold your home in Alabama or Florida, the idea of cooking may seem daunting. Skip it this year and enjoy a delicious meal cooked and cleaned up by someone else!

Restaurants open near your home in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach include Gilbey’s Seafood and Steak, as well as the Ginny Lane Bar at The Wharf. If you live in Perdido Key, try the Flora-Bama’s annual potluck. Or, for something a little more traditional, the Perdido Key Beach Resort. In Pensacola, head downtown to Jackson’s Steakhouse or the Fish House.

After the Turkey has been cleaned away, stick around a few days to watch the beaches light up for the holidays! Orange Beach will host their annual tree lighting on December 1, 2015, while Gulf Shores will get into the holiday spirit with the town parade on December 4, 2015.

Restaurants Open on Gulf Coast for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Will you be spending your Thanksgiving on a Gulf Coast vacation with Pointe South? Or, perhaps you don’t feel up to hosting the family after just moving to the Gulf Coast. Either way, we have some good news.

Because holiday visitors are common on the coast, many local restaurants open their doors and serve traditional Thanksgiving meals. And, usually, all you need to do to attend is make a reservation. How easy is that? And, no cleaning your kitchen afterward!

Restaurants that will be open in the Pensacola and Perdido Key area include The Fish House and Jackson’s Steakhouse. You will find all your traditional favorites and even a few yummy additions on their menus. The Flora-Bama, located on the State line between Perdido Key and Orange Beach, will also be hosting a potluck. Just bring your favorite side item and the meats are provided by them.

In Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, you will find many restaurants open including Fisher’s at Orange Beach Marina and Bahama Bob’s Beachside Cafe. No matter how you are planning to spend your Thanksgiving, we hope you enjoy a wonderful day!

Thanksgiving at the Beach

Thanksgiving is an absolutely wonderful time of year to spend at the beach. The weather is nice and, well, it’s the beach! And, while you could certainly prepare all your holiday favorites in the fully equipped kitchens of our rentals, it’s also a great opportunity to try something a little different!

You may be wondering if there are any open restaurants in Pensacola, Perdido Key or Orange Beach that will be serving Thanksgiving dinner. The answer? Yes! And, some fabulous ones, at that. If you are staying in a Pensacola Beach vacation rental, venture into Pensacola to try the amazing creations served up by The Fish House. While something called ‘grits a ya ya’ may not traditionally appear on your holiday table, we know you will love them, along with the turkey, dressing, green bean casserole and much more. They will open from 11AM to 5PM and reservations are recommended.

In Perdido Key, head over to the annual buffet at the Perdido Key Beach Resort or cook up your favorite dish and head over to the Flora-Bama Lounge potluck. There will also be many area restaurants in Orange Beach serving Thanksgiving dinner. No matter what or where you choose to eat, we hope you have a wonderful turkey day!
