Florida Freeze of 2014

The Florida Freeze of 2014 has officially settled along the gulf coast as residents and vacationers are bundled up inside their homes and condos.  The interstate, local bridges and many roads have been closed due to icy roads and impassable conditions.  Local authorities have urged everyone to stay inside as they had suspended efforts to maintain the roads covered with sheets of ice.

As many businesses closed early due to the forecast, others stayed open.  Pointe South Real Estate Broker/ Owner, Susan Carleton, welcomed a guest to stay at her home, as her guest was unable to leave Perdido Key after work.  Others were excited about this rare event in Florida and Coastal Alabama as photos of snowmen and kids sledding spread across social media and the news.  One resident claimed “I’ve lived here for 32 years and have never seen this.”

The temperatures are expected to increase and be in the 50s and 60 by the weekend.  We hope all of our community member, owners, tenants, and guests are safe and stay warm!
